Over the years leading ladies from our own Bollywood have left their mark in the Cannes film festival. Cannes film festival is the invitation only, an annual film festival held in Cannes, France. It previews films, short films, and documentaries of all genres from every part of the world.
The year 2019 was no exception when the Bollywood beauties took the 72nd Cannes Film Festival by storm. Along with the regulars, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, this year saw some new additions in Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Diana Penty and Hina Khan.
Although beautiful ladies from all over the world graced the red carpet, our Bollywood divas ruled it. Our Indian ladies created waves and dazzled at the after parties too, taking the crown of the best among the best in the esteemed festival.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas
The leading lady of Bollywood who has made her mark in Hollywood, debuted at Cannes Film Festival this year. The actress looked stunning in a Robert Cavalli gown in black and red ombre during her first appearance on the red carpet.
Her second red carpet appearance was with her husband Nick Jonas. The couple made a jaw-dropping entry in color co-ordinated clothes. Priyanka went for an ivory tulle dress by Georges Hobeika for the occasion.
1 Deepika Padukone
Deepika left no stones unturned to make a statement at the Cannes red carpet this year. Her first appearance was in a Dundas gown having a huge bow to give it an x-factor. Her second appearance on the red carpet was in a Giambattista Valli lime green gown. It was her most adventurous red carpet look till date.
2. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
The ‘Devdas’ actress known for her impeccable fashion sense, debuted at Cannes in 2002. In all the 17 years, the lady has made sure to turn heads with all her appearances. This year, she wore a metallic mermaid gown for her first red carpet appearance. She chose a gown in white with a feathered look for the second appearance on the red carpet and took a lot of breaths away.
3 Sonam Kapoor
The graceful, elegant and super stylish actress has been a reigning queen at Cannes Film Festival. The diva made a stunning entry on the red carpet, looking gorgeous in a red dress by Valentino. The fashionista appeared in an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla gold outfit, looking like a real queen for the Chopard party.
4. Kangana Ranaut
The ‘Manikarnika’ actress stepped out on her first day, in a golden Kanjivaram saree with a violet border by Falguni and Shane Peacock. She gave it a fusion look with arm length gloves and golden crochet. She looked like an absolute delight in a fish cut ivory gown by Michale Cino on her second day in Cannes, looking regal.
5. Hina Khan
Another Indian beauty who killed with her sultry looks at Cannes 2019 was Hina Khan. She debuted at the red carpet looking ravishing, as well as graceful, in a sheer gown by international designer Ziad Nakad. She made another appearance on the red carpet in a shimmering silver gown by Alin Le’ Kal. Hina unveiled the first look of her short film Lines at Cannes 2019 and attended a session by the India pavilion.
6. Diana Penty
The Bollywood beauty made her Cannes red carpet debut in an off-shoulder beige colored gown. The Diva attended a Chopard event in a Celia Kritharioti’s sequin outfit in golden color. She wore a pair of golden boots to go with it.
7. Huma Qureshi
The diva turned heads with her back to back stunning appearances at Cannes 2019. She wore a silver mist multi-layered gown, with twirls all over, for the red carpet.
There is no doubt that our ladies owned the film festival with their style and charm. They left the onlookers wanting for more and in anticipation for the next year’s party.
